Hirayama Investments, LLC

Overview
Hirayama Investments, LLC was founded, and is co-owned, by Mr. Richard K. Hirayama and Wentworth, Hauser and Violich, Inc. (“WHV”). Hirayama Investments and WHV have entered into a sub-advisory agreement whereby Hirayama Investments will provide its long-standing International and Global Equity strategies exclusively to WHV’s clients. In addition, Mr. Hirayama has signed agreements with both WHV and Hirayama Investments to provide his expertise solely to those entities for a period of no less than ten years. The primary benefit of entering into this joint venture is that WHV and Mr. Hirayama have committed to a long-term partnership.

Investment Philosophy
The WHV International and Global Equity investment philosophy is grounded in the conviction that superior investment performance depends primarily on investing in the most attractive global economic sectors. Particular attention is devoted to identifying supply and demand imbalances that are likely to persist over time. The world’s investment landscape has evolved from being influenced by regional or country-specific events to an environment defined primarily by two dominant global forces: 1) globalization by economic sectors and 2) categorization of stocks by sectors rather than by country. The WHV International and Global Equity strategies are designed to take advantage of this environment through a top-down sector allocation investment process.

Investment Process
Hirayama Investments utilizes a five-step, top-down investment process. First, the relative attractiveness of global economic sectors is analyzed. Second, the potential of each industry group is examined. Third, the attractiveness of each country is analyzed. Fourth, a universe of foreign equity securities is researched. Lastly, a portfolio of 30 to 60 stocks is constructed representing economic sectors that have the potential for long-term earnings growth.
